ebm-papst wins ASERCOM Energy Efficiency Award 2008
The Association of European Refrigeration Compressor and Controls Manufacturers (ASERCOM) has announced this year`s "ASERCOM Energy Efficiency Award". The award was presented during the ASERCOM + EPEE Symposium on October 14, 2008 by Michael Mueller, Parliamentary State Secretary in the German Federal Ministry for the Environment.
Image 1: HyBlade® axial fan in EC technologyThe prize is given for outstanding innovative concepts in the field of air conditioning and refrigeration technology (including heat pumps) that contain a high degree of energy efficiency and thus contribute to a significant reduction in greenhouse gases. In this context it is also necessary for applications to be technically feasible and commercially viable.
An international jury (Prof. Clodic, France - Prof. Quack, Germany - Prof. van der Ree, Netherlands) unanimously selected ebm-papst, the leading manufacturer of motors and fans for the 2008 award.
There were two products highlighted, both of which make a major contribution to energy saving. In the field of refrigeration and air-conditioning HyBlade® axial fans with EC motors and the new energy saving axial fans were shown as leading innovations.
With HyBlade®, an innovative and unique hybrid structure for fan blades, ebm papst is redefining the strengths of axial fans. The combination of an aluminium support structure with a glass fibre reinforced plastic cover employing aerodynamic design features delivers better noise characteristics as well as higher efficiency than traditional blades.
The range of energy-saving fans has been improved and extended especially for refrigeration and deep-freeze units. The new plastic impeller brings even quieter operation of the fans which are unvarnished and so very environmentally friendly. Compared to conventional shaded-pole motors energy savings of more than 65 % can be realised from which the customer and the environment benefits.
The prize was handed to ebm-papst managing director of research and development Dr. Bruno Lindl. "ebm-papst has its focus on energy-saving motors and fans and therefore it is particularly rewarding to get the ASERCOM Energy Efficiency Award for our innovative solutions and applications", according to Lindl. The prize money of € 10,000 will be donated by ebm-papst for a charitable purpose. During the Chillventa trade fair in Nuremberg everyone will be able to see the winning products as well as further energy saving applications. The ebm papst stand can be found in hall 7, stand 7-304.
